Vote Lionel A. Saulsberry for City Council District Two

I believe that the public’s interests are best served when local leaders

Dear Neighbors,

As a United States Marine, I spent 14 years of my adult life living outside of the country. When I retired after 22 years of service, I finally found a place I could call home in The Valley of Discovery. I am the Assistant Commandant at Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad. I have been working with and mentoring young people for over 12 years combined.

San Marcos is a very special place to my family and I. Although I have not lived here long enough to build a reputation of serving our community, I believe I can be a significant voice for the people. I want to listen and learn and participate in leading our city to its highest potential. I have a fresh perspective on what it is like to be a San Marcos resident and I am the perfect example of the average guy who really cares about our community now and for generations to come.

I am running because not only do I love to live in our amazing San Marcos, I also want to serve this thriving, beautifully diverse city and just like the 22 years I spent serving in the Marine Corps, I want to be part of the few and the proud who make a difference.

I never imagined myself running for a political position, but I am excited and enthusiastic about becoming a voice for the wonderful community of people in this city.

It is with the utmost gratitude that I have been encouraged by those who I have high respect and regard for, to run as a city council member here in San Marcos.
